On the evening of Sunday 7th September the launch event of our church fundraising appeal, Project Nisibis, took place in Clare Hall Cambridge. The evening was billed as a 'late summer soirée' and we were surely blessed with a glorious evening which felt like the last day of summer. The event was sold out, with over 100 guests coming from many different parishes and denominations. A message of encouragement from Bishop Matthew of Sourozh was read out by Father Evgeny. The choir of St Ephraim's performed a sublime repertoire of liturgical classics, and later Dr Nikolai Kazantsev enthralled with his faultless rendition of some of Bach's cello suites. Guests enjoyed home-made Greek pies and canapes prepared by members of the parish. It was a rare chance for the whole parish to meet with the local community in a relaxed and informal setting. May the warmth and goodwill of that evening encourage us in our efforts to acquire a permanent home. A huge thank you to all who came and those who helped make it such a special evening.
